Travel RN Job Details
- Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
- Specialty: Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse
- Unit: 5 Med, 53-bed medical-surgical unit
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Hours: 36 guaranteed hours per week, except as noted for orientation, holidays, or unit closure
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Holiday rotation
- Contract: 13 weeks, with the possibility of extending to 15 weeks
- Start Date: September 22, 2026
- Setting: On-site acute-care hospital environment
- Charting: EPIC experience within the past 12 months required
- Scrub Color: Any
Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements
- At least 3 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience in a short-term acute-care hospital; 3–5 years preferred
- At least 1 completed travel nursing contract preferred
- Current Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin or a valid compact-state license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associate degree or nursing certificate required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Recent experience managing insulin and cardiac drips
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry
- Recent EPIC electronic health record charting experience
- Strong documentation, communication, resilience, and adaptability skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute-care environment and adapt to changing patient-care needs
- COVID-19 vaccination in accordance with applicable requirements, unless an approved medical or religious exemption applies
Medical-Surgical Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients
- Assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes
- Administer medications and safely manage insulin and cardiac infusions within scope of practice
- Monitor and interpret telemetry findings and promptly communicate clinically significant changes
- Complete accurate, timely documentation in EPIC
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing colleagues, patients, and families to coordinate patient care
- Float to comparable units or nearby affiliated locations as needed based on census and clinical competency
- Participate in every-other-weekend and holiday rotation requirements
- Complete required orientation activities and pre-start learning modules
