Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250–$2,370
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- Schedule: 40 hours per week; four 10-hour day shifts with variable start times between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
- Shift Duration: 10-hour days
- Unit: 14-bay Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) with approximately a 1:2 patient ratio
- Call Requirements: One night of call per week for four weeks out of a six-week schedule and every fifth weekend; 30-minute response time required
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every fifth weekend on call and holiday rotation
- Charting: Epic preferred; previous electronic medical record experience required
- Attire: Scrubs of any color
PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent PACU nursing experience in a hospital setting
- Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
- American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Recent experience caring for post-cardiac and pediatric patients
- Associate degree or nursing certificate required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- Previous electronic charting experience required; Epic experience strongly preferred
- Ability to participate in required on-call, weekend, holiday, and low-census scheduling needs
PACU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive post-anesthesia nursing care for patients recovering from surgical and procedural interventions
- Monitor patients closely, identify changes in condition, and initiate timely clinical interventions
- Care for patients following general, spine, neurological, gastrointestinal, ENT, cardiac, peripheral vascular, and orthopedic procedures
- Support the recovery and stabilization of higher-acuity patients prior to transfer to the intensive care unit
- Maintain airway support, assess vital signs, manage pain and nausea, and evaluate readiness for transfer
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, providers, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and handoff information in the electronic medical record
- Participate in call coverage and respond within the required timeframe when called back
