You will work in a 40-bed unit with an average of 10–15 admissions per day and a strong focus on prioritization, teamwork, and quality outcomes. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Position Type: 13-week travel Registered Nurse contract
- Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110–$2,220
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week, excluding orientation and applicable facility closures
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
- Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Every other weekend and holiday
- Unit: 40-bed post-surgical care unit
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric pre- and post-surgical patients
- Typical Patient Ratios: Days/evenings 1:4–5; nights 1:5–7
- Float Expectations: May float to inpatient units as needed
Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience in a hospital setting
- Recent Level II trauma experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse license
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate degree or nursing certificate required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Recent Epic electronic medical record experience required
- Ability to prioritize care, manage multiple patient needs, and work effectively within an interdisciplinary team
Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients before and after surgical procedures
- Assess patients, identify changes in condition, and communicate clinical findings promptly
- Manage post-operative recovery needs and support safe transitions throughout the continuum of care
- Administer medications and treatments using Epic, Rover medication scanning, and Alaris pumps
- Monitor patients with varying acuity while maintaining safe and organized care delivery
- Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
- Float to other inpatient units when needed and adapt efficiently to changing assignments
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold professional nursing standards
