Travel Nursing Job Details
- Job Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Location: Evansville, Indiana
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: June 22, 2026
- End Date: September 20, 2026
- Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Weekend Requirement: Three weekends in every six-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Unit: 41-bed surgical medical-surgical care center
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:6–7 on nights
- Electronic Medical Record: Recent Epic experience required, including completion of a checkoff class
- Additional Scheduling: May float within the nurse’s skill set to nearby affiliated campuses with advance notice
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
Med/Surg Travel Nurse Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with a current compact or Indiana license
- At least 2 years of strong medical-surgical nursing experience in an acute-care setting
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience overall
- Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment
- Level II trauma experience required for this assignment
- Associate degree or nursing certificate
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification
- Current NIHSS certification
- Recent Epic charting experience
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, critical-thinking, communication, and adaptability skills
- Ability to work night shifts, rotating weekends, holidays, and occasional cross-campus float assignments
Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to post-surgical and medically complex adult patients.
- Care for patients following Whipple procedures, vascular procedures, heart catheterizations, bariatric surgery, ENT procedures, podiatric surgery, thyroid surgery, and abdominal procedures.
- Manage patients with dementia, altered mental status, CIWA or detox needs, fall risks, and frequent repositioning requirements.
- Perform thorough nursing assessments and recognize changes in patient condition promptly.
- Insert and maintain peripheral IVs and manage chest tubes and indwelling drains.
- Provide continuous bladder irrigation, ostomy care, wound packing, wound-vac care, and dressing changes.
- Administer blood products and manage stable infusions, including heparin, furosemide, and pantoprazole drips.
- Provide epidural management and interpret telemetry.
- Care for pre- and post-heart-catheterization patients, including femoral access sites and TR bands.
- Collaborate with providers, charge nurses, patient care technicians, and interdisciplinary team members to promote safe, efficient patient care.
- Float to other units or nearby affiliated campuses within the nurse’s competency as needed.
- Support a teaching environment by precepting nursing students or newly hired staff when assigned.
