  • Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:6, increasing to 1:7 after 11:00 PM
  • Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
  • Call: No on-call or callback requirement
  • Charting: Epic experience within the past 12 months required

Medical-Surgical Travel Nurse Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
  • At least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience in a short-term acute-care hospital
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • NIHSS certification
  • Associate degree or nursing certificate required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • Recent experience with indwelling drain removal and PICC line care, including dressing changes
  • Recent Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience
  • Ability to float to comparable units or nearby facilities based on census and within established clinical competencies
  • Adaptable, resilient, and comfortable working in a fast-paced acute-care environment
  • Strong documentation, communication, and teamwork skills
  • COVID-19 vaccination required unless an applicable medical or religious exemption is approved

Travel RN Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult orthopedic and neurologic medical-surgical patients
  • Complete comprehensive nursing assessments, implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
  • Monitor patients for changes in condition and promptly communicate clinical concerns to the appropriate care team
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established standards and provider orders
  • Perform and document PICC line care, dressing changes, drain removal, and other assigned clinical interventions
  • Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation in Epic
  • Collaborate with providers, therapists, support staff, patients, and families to coordinate care and promote recovery
  • Support safe patient transitions, patient education, and discharge planning
  • Float to comparable units or facilities when needed while practicing within approved clinical skills
  • Participate in rotating weekend and holiday coverage
