Travel Nursing Job Details

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Unit: 41-bed surgical medical care center
- Typical Patient Ratios: Nights 1:6–7; charge nurses take a patient assignment
- Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Three weekends every six-week schedule and every other holiday
- Orientation: Biweekly orientation; 12 orientation hours
- Electronic Charting: Recent EPIC experience required, including completion of a checkoff class
- Float Expectations: First to float within skillset, including nearby sister campuses when needed; advance notice is provided for cross-campus floating
Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with an active compact license
- Associate degree or nursing certificate
- At least two years of recent, strong medical-surgical nursing experience
- At least one previous travel nursing assignment
- Trauma Level II experience
- Current AHA BLS certification
- Current NIHSS certification
- Recent EPIC electronic health record charting experience
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, rotating weekends, and holidays
- Applicants must reside outside the 40-mile local radius requirement
- Strong assessment, clinical judgment, resilience, adaptability, and communication skills
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to post-surgical and medically complex adult patients
- Care for patients following Whipple procedures, vascular procedures, heart catheterizations, bariatric surgery, ENT procedures, podiatry procedures, thyroid surgery, and abdominal surgery
- Manage patients with dementia, altered mental status, CIWA or detoxification needs, fall risks, and frequent repositioning requirements
- Perform thorough nursing assessments and identify changes in patient condition using sound clinical judgment
- Insert and manage peripheral IVs, chest tubes, and indwelling drains
- Manage continuous bladder irrigation, epidurals, ostomies, wound vacs, wound packing, and complex dressing changes
- Administer blood products and manage stable medication infusions, including heparin, furosemide, and pantoprazole infusions
- Interpret telemetry and monitor patients before and after heart catheterization, including femoral access sites and TR bands
- Collaborate with providers, charge nurses, patient care technicians, students, and fellow nurses to support excellent patient outcomes
- Float within the nurse’s competency to support patient care needs across designated campuses
- Demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and a team-oriented approach in a teaching-hospital environment
