Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry in Evansville, Indiana

Join a high-acuity medical-surgical telemetry unit as a travel Registered Nurse (RN) in Evansville, Indiana. This 13-week travel nursing assignment is ideal for a resilient, clinically confident RN with strong cardiac care, telemetry interpretation, and complex patient-care experience. You will join an experienced team in a 41-bed unit while caring for patients with cardiac, renal, pulmonary, infectious, and behavioral health needs.

Located in southwest Indiana, Evansville offers a welcoming river-city atmosphere with a vibrant downtown, local dining, cultural attractions, and convenient access to outdoor recreation. This onsite travel nursing opportunity provides the chance to expand your clinical experience while serving a diverse patient population.

Travel RN Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Nursing

  • Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
  • Hours: 36 guaranteed hours per week
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Anticipated Start Date: November 2, 2026
  • Healthcare Setting: High-acuity cardiac and medical-surgical telemetry unit
  • Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5–7 on night shifts
  • Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Three weekends out of every six-week schedule and every other holiday
  • Floating: May float within the RN skill set, including to nearby affiliated campuses, with advance notice when cross-campus floating is needed
  • Electronic Health Record: Recent Epic experience required, including completion of a charting checkoff

Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with a current compact license
  • At least 2 years of strong cardiac nursing and medical-surgical telemetry experience
  • At least 1 previous travel nursing assignment
  • Experience in a Level II trauma setting
  • Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Recent Epic electronic health record experience
  • Strong telemetry and 12-lead EKG interpretation skills, with successful completion of required telemetry testing
  • Ability to care for high-acuity patients and demonstrate sound assessment, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills
  • Associate degree or nursing certificate
  • Applicants must meet the applicable 40-mile local eligibility requirement

Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to high-acuity medical-surgical and telemetry patients
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKG findings, including atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, atrial flutter, heart blocks, and other dysrhythmias
  • Initiate, monitor, and titrate ordered infusions, including antiarrhythmics, heparin, amiodarone, diltiazem, furosemide, and other high-alert medications
  • Care for patients with congestive heart failure, COPD, sepsis, behavioral health needs, CIWA protocols, post-ablation recovery, dialysis needs, and post-cardiac catheterization needs
  • Perform focused and comprehensive assessments while recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition
  • Manage peripheral IV access, chest tubes, indwelling drains, continuous bladder irrigation, nephrostomy tubes, and other specialized equipment
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing colleagues, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe patient care
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient outcomes in Epic
  • Float to other units or nearby campuses as needed while maintaining safe, high-quality care within the RN skill set
  • Support a collaborative teaching environment that may include precepting students or newly hired staff
