Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
- Location: Evansville, Indiana
- Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical Telemetry
- Unit: Cardiac/Renal Unit with 41 beds
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
- Hours: 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Schedule: Three weekends every six weeks and every other holiday
- Float: First to float within skill set, including nearby affiliated campuses when needed; advance notice is provided for cross-campus assignments
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4–5 on day shift
- Documentation: Recent EPIC experience required, including completion of a documentation checkoff
- Eligibility: Applicants must reside outside the 40-mile local radius
Travel Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with an active compact or applicable state license
- At least 2 years of strong cardiac telemetry or medical-surgical telemetry nursing experience
- At least 1 previous travel nursing assignment
- Trauma Level II experience
- Associate degree or nursing certificate
- Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent EPIC charting experience
- Ability to successfully complete telemetry competency testing
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
- Adaptable, dependable, and comfortable working with high-acuity patients and changing priorities
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for high-acuity medical-surgical and telemetry patients
- Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms and 12-lead EKGs, including atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, atrial flutter, heart blocks, and other dysrhythmias
- Care for patients with heart failure, COPD, sepsis, behavioral health or CIWA needs, post-ablation recovery, dialysis, and cardiac catheterization without intervention
- Initiate and titrate appropriate infusions, including antiarrhythmics, heparin, amiodarone, diltiazem, furosemide, and pantoprazole, according to orders and facility protocols
- Perform peripheral IV insertion and provide care for chest tubes, indwelling drains, nephrostomy tubes, and continuous bladder irrigation
- Administer and monitor antidysrhythmic therapies, including diltiazem, dofetilide, and amiodarone
- Complete accurate, timely nursing documentation in EPIC
- Collaborate with providers, nursing colleagues, patients, and families to coordinate safe, effective patient care
- Float within the nurse’s competency and support a teaching environment that may include precepting students or new team members
