Travel RN Job Details

• Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry Registered Nurse
• Location: Henderson, Kentucky
• Healthcare Setting: Stepdown/PCU and telemetry units
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
• Nursing Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week; typically three 12-hour shifts
• Travel Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 5, 2026
• Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Every third weekend and every other holiday
• Orientation: 12 hours; biweekly orientation schedule
• Floating: First to float within the nurse’s skill set; occasional floating to nearby affiliated campuses may be required with advance notice
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5–6 on the stepdown night shift and 1:6 on the telemetry night shift
• Unit Environment: Team-oriented, experienced nursing staff in a teaching environment

Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license with a current compact privilege
• At least 2 years of RN experience, including 1 solid year of stepdown, PCU, or telemetry nursing experience
• At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment
• Associate degree or nursing certificate
• Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Recent Epic electronic health record charting experience and completion of a required Epic checkoff class
• Ability to successfully complete required telemetry competency testing
• Strong patient assessment, communication, adaptability, resilience, and critical-thinking skills
• Applicants must reside outside the 40-mile radius requirement for the assignment
• Willingness to wear navy blue scrubs without competing health system or agency logos

Cardiac Stepdown Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to stepdown, PCU, and telemetry patients during 12-hour night shifts
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Care for patients with complex conditions, including sepsis, congestive heart failure, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia, and post-operative needs
• Initiate and titrate insulin, heparin, and cardiac drips according to clinical protocols
• Perform focused and comprehensive nursing assessments, identify changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly
• Manage peripheral IVs, chest tubes, indwelling drains, continuous bladder irrigation, blood products, BiPAP, and stable medication infusions as applicable
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic
• Collaborate with providers, nursing colleagues, patients, and families to coordinate safe, effective care
• Float within the nurse’s competency area and support nearby affiliated units when needed
• Precept students or newly hired staff when assigned
