Travel Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Portage, Wisconsin

• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
• Weekend Rotation: Two weekends out of four as needed; holiday rotation is every other holiday
• Call Requirements: No scheduled on-call or backup requirement; additional shifts may be available
• Float Expectations: Must be willing to float to other regional units as needed
• Dress Code: Dark blue scrubs
• Travel Assignment Eligibility: A 50-mile radius rule may apply

Med-Surg Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Associate degree in nursing or an applicable nursing certificate required
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and participate in the required weekend and holiday rotation
• Strong teamwork, adaptability, resilience, and confidence in clinical decision-making
• Ability to comply with applicable seasonal respiratory illness policies, including masking requirements when applicable

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to medical-surgical patients
• Manage care for patients recovering from joint replacements and general surgical procedures
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, monitor patient status, and document care accurately
• Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team to support positive patient outcomes
• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond promptly using sound clinical judgment
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery, and discharge needs
• Float to designated regional units when operational needs require additional support
• Contribute to a professional, team-oriented environment while managing changing patient-care priorities
