Travel Nursing Job Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical Telemetry; Travel Registered Nurse
- Unit: Cardiac/Renal Unit; 41 beds
- Location: Evansville, Indiana
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; typically three shifts per week
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Duration: 13-week travel nurse contract
- Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Three weekends per six-week schedule and every other holiday
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4–5 on day shifts
- Float Requirement: First to float within the nurse’s skill set, including occasional cross-campus assignments with advance notice
- Local Candidate Rule: Applicants must reside outside the 40-mile radius requirement
Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license with a compact license eligible for practice in Indiana
- At least 2 years of strong cardiac, medical-surgical, and telemetry nursing experience
- At least 1 previous travel nursing assignment
- Level II trauma experience
- Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Associate degree or nursing certificate
- Recent EPIC charting experience
- Ability to pass required telemetry testing and demonstrate accurate 12-lead EKG interpretation
- Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
- Adaptability, resilience, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced teaching hospital environment
Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to high-acuity medical-surgical and telemetry patients
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, blocks, and other dysrhythmias
- Care for patients with heart failure, COPD, sepsis, behavioral health or CIWA needs, post-ablation recovery, dialysis, and cardiac catheterization without intervention
- Initiate and titrate ordered infusions, including antiarrhythmics, heparin, amiodarone, diltiazem, furosemide, and other specialty drips
- Perform focused and comprehensive assessments and promptly identify changes in patient condition
- Provide care involving peripheral IV insertion, chest tubes, indwelling drains, continuous bladder irrigation, nephrostomy tubes, and related devices
- Administer medications safely and evaluate patient responses to treatment
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Float within the nurse’s competency when needed and support safe patient care across assigned units
- Participate in orientation, ongoing education, and precepting students or newly hired staff as appropriate
