Travel Nursing Job Details
- Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown / Cardiac-Neuro Travel RN
- Location: Evansville, Indiana
- Healthcare Setting: 19-bed blended stepdown and medical-surgical/telemetry unit
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 5, 2026
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week, excluding applicable orientation and unit closure exceptions
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5–6 on day shifts
- Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Three weekends every six weeks and every other holiday
- Float Expectations: First to float within the nurse’s skill set; floating to nearby campuses may be required with advance notice when possible
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs without competing health-system or agency logos
- Travel Eligibility: Applicants must reside outside the applicable 40-mile local radius
Cardiac Stepdown Travel RN Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with a current compact license
- A minimum of 2 years of solid cardiac stepdown experience plus at least 1 completed travel contract, or 5 years of solid cardiac stepdown experience without prior travel experience
- Associate degree or nursing certificate
- Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent Epic charting experience and completion of a required Epic checkoff class
- Strong telemetry and 12-lead EKG interpretation skills, including successful completion of required telemetry testing
- Demonstrated patient assessment, clinical judgment, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to precept nursing students and new hires in a teaching-hospital environment
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care for post-procedure cardiac, neurological, and medical-surgical patients.
- Care for patients recovering from cardiac catheterization, stent placement, interventions, pacemaker and ICD procedures, ablations, and carotid endarterectomies.
- Recognize and manage STEMI, NSTEMI, sepsis, CVA, seizures, possible traumatic brain injury, and diabetic ketoacidosis presentations.
- Perform continuous telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG interpretation.
- Initiate and titrate Cardizem, amiodarone, Cardene, nitroglycerin, insulin, and heparin infusions according to clinical protocols.
- Complete focused and comprehensive neurological assessments, including NIHSS evaluations.
- Provide post-cardiac-catheterization care, including femoral access-site and TR-band management.
- Manage chest tubes, establish peripheral IV access, and deliver evidence-based sepsis care.
- Float within the nurse’s competency areas and adapt effectively to changing patient-care assignments.
- Document accurately in Epic while communicating changes in patient condition to the interdisciplinary care team.
