Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:30 PM–7:00 AM
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: September 7 or September 21, 2026
• Unit: 16-bed cardiac stepdown setting
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:3–4 on nights, with occasional 1:5 medical-surgical assignments
• Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Three weekends every six-week schedule and every other holiday
• Floating: First to float within skillset; occasional assignments may include nearby campuses with advance notice

Cardiac Stepdown Travel RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in a compact state
• Associate degree or nursing certificate
• At least 2 years of Registered Nurse experience, including 1 full year of cardiac stepdown experience
• At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment
• Level II trauma experience
• Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Recent Epic charting experience
• Strong telemetry and 12-lead EKG interpretation skills; successful completion of required telemetry testing
• Demonstrated assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and adaptability skills

Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care for cardiac and medically complex stepdown patients
• Care for patients recovering from cardiac catheterization, stent placement, interventions, and pacemaker procedures
• Monitor and manage patients with sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, cerebrovascular accidents, gastrointestinal bleeding, CIWA/behavioral health needs, and other high-acuity conditions
• Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKG findings and promptly escalate clinical changes
• Initiate and titrate medications and infusions such as antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin according to orders and protocol
• Perform postoperative assessments and care, neurological assessments, NIHSS evaluations, and dysphagia screenings
• Manage patients requiring CPAP, feeding tubes, hypothermia or warming interventions, and other specialized treatments
• Collaborate with providers, charge nurses, nursing assistants, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Complete accurate documentation in Epic and support a positive, team-oriented unit environment
