ICU Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Lubbock, Texas
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
- Assignment: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- End Date: February 1, 2027
- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Typical Ratios: 1:2, with potential for 1:3 when caring for a 1:1 specialty patient
- Floating: May float to related critical care units, including surgical, cardiovascular, and neuro intensive care
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum of six weekend shifts during each six-week period
- Call: Not required
- Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work three of five designated holidays during the assignment
- Charting: Epic
- Unit Profile: 16-bed ICU with an average daily census of approximately 13 patients
Travel ICU RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; compact license must be active and in hand when applicable
- At least one year of recent ICU nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Experience with Epic electronic health record charting required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- OCN certification as listed for the assignment
- Strong experience caring for critically ill adult and geriatric patients
- Ability to float between critical care units and adapt to changing patient acuity
- Community hospital and Level II trauma experience preferred
- Two professional references covering at least one year of recent experience within the last three years
ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients
- Assess and manage patients experiencing respiratory failure, ARDS, COPD exacerbations, sepsis, septic shock, stroke, post-cardiac arrest conditions, renal failure, and multisystem organ dysfunction
- Care for mechanically ventilated patients and manage BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and airway suctioning
- Monitor and titrate cardiac and vasoactive infusions, sedation, insulin, and other critical care medications according to protocol
- Manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, CVP monitoring, epicardial pacing wires, and other invasive monitoring equipment
- Provide CRRT care using Prismaflex or Prismax equipment, including monitoring and troubleshooting therapy
- Administer blood products and chemotherapy when indicated and ordered
- Recognize changes in patient condition, interpret dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases, and initiate timely interventions
- Support patients requiring neurocritical care, including ICP monitoring, EVD management, post-craniotomy care, and traumatic brain injury management
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, rapid response, IV teams, social services, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Float safely and effectively to designated sister intensive care units while maintaining high standards of patient care and communication
