Travel PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro Tele Night Shift Contract in Lubbock, TX

Join a high-acuity Neuro Tele/Progressive Care Unit as a travel PCU Registered Nurse in Lubbock, Texas, for a 13-week night shift contract focused on compassionate, evidence-based care for patients with complex neurological and cardiovascular needs. Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,740–$1,840
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: November 16, 2026
  • Nursing Shift: Night shift, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
  • Healthcare Setting: Neuro Tele/Progressive Care Unit
  • Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4 on days and nights; up to 1:5 on weekends
  • Patient Population: Stroke/TIA, trauma, epilepsy monitoring, subdural hematoma, and neurosurgical patients
  • Unit Size: Approximately 29 beds with an average daily census of 27
  • Electronic Health Record: Epic
  • Weekend Requirement: Six weekend shifts per six-week schedule period
  • Call: Not required
  • Orientation: Approximately 12 hours
  • Floating: May be required between units or nearby affiliated facilities

PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience, preferably in PCU, stepdown, intermediate care, or telemetry
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Texas; compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Demonstrated experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response or code team procedures
  • Experience caring for patients with neurological, cardiovascular, trauma, or neurosurgical conditions
  • Proficiency with Epic or another electronic health record system
  • Ability to manage a 1:4 patient assignment and adapt to changing patient acuity
  • Strong communication, organization, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to work weekends and participate in the required holiday rotation
  • Two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the last three years

Travel PCU RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to PCU and Neuro Tele patients in a fast-paced acute care setting
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
  • Care for patients with stroke, TIA, trauma, epilepsy monitoring needs, subdural hematoma, and post-neurosurgical conditions
  • Administer and manage cardiac, heparin, insulin, and vasoactive infusions according to applicable protocols
  • Perform central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, oxygen therapy, and non-invasive airway support
  • Use rapid response and code team processes to support safe and timely interventions
  • Complete accurate assessments, medication administration, care planning, documentation, and patient education
  • Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Partner with patients and families to promote recovery, safety, and positive outcomes
  • Float between assigned units or nearby affiliated facilities when needed while maintaining high standards of patient care
