Join a specialized cardiac cath lab team in Baltimore, Maryland, as an experienced Travel Registered Nurse supporting complex interventional procedures. This 16-week nursing assignment is ideal for a CVOR or cardiac invasive RN who can independently scrub cardiac catheterization cases.
Baltimore is a vibrant waterfront city known for its rich history, diverse neighborhoods, and strong healthcare community. This on-site travel nurse role supports adult and geriatric patients in a four-room cardiac invasive laboratory with an average daily census of approximately 15. The successful candidate will bring strong sterile technique, cardiac procedure knowledge, and the ability to work confidently in a fast-paced procedural environment.
Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $3,030–$3,190
- Assignment Length: 16 weeks
- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week
- Shift: Day shift, 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
- Weekend/Call: Call approximately one day per week and one weekend per month; weekend and holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Healthcare Setting: Cardiac invasive catheterization laboratory
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Work Arrangement: On-site travel nursing assignment in Baltimore, Maryland
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Maryland or compact Registered Nurse (RN) license at the time of submission
- At least 2 years of Registered Nurse experience, including recent cardiac catheterization or cardiac procedural experience
- Strong, recent experience independently scrubbing cardiac catheterization cases
- Community hospital experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
- One of the following credentials required: RCIS, ARRT, or RTR
- Working knowledge of sterile technique, cardiac anatomy, hemodynamic monitoring, and procedural safety
- Ability to support call, weekend, holiday, and floating requirements within scope of practice
- Current influenza vaccination required
Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse Responsibilities
- Scrub independently for diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures while maintaining a sterile field
- Support right- and left-heart catheterizations, coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), chronic total occlusion procedures, and coronary atherectomy
- Assist with structural and advanced cardiac procedures, including TAVR, MitraClip, TriClip, PFO and ASD closures, septostomy, and aortic valvuloplasty
- Participate in procedures involving IABP, Impella, ECMO, temporary pacemakers, pericardiocentesis, and coronary thrombectomy
- Recognize life-threatening arrhythmias and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Apply accurate monitoring practices and support hemodynamic assessment throughout cardiac procedures
- Prepare, handle, and maintain specialized equipment, including Impella and IABP consoles, IVUS/FFR systems, Rotablader, Shockwave, Acist, MedRad, and thrombectomy equipment
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary procedural team to promote safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care
- Follow isolation precautions, personal protective equipment standards, emergency response protocols, and department policies
