- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730–$1,820
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending February 1, 2027
- Schedule: Night shifts, 3 shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights, approximately 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 6:1 in ER Holding
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and some holidays
- Openings: 3 positions
- Orientation: 16 hours
Emergency Room RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience, preferably in an emergency department, acute care, medical-surgical, or telemetry setting
- Previous experience caring for admitted patients boarding in the emergency department is highly valued
- Current Registered Nurse license in Tennessee or a valid compact nursing license in hand at the time of submission
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Prior Cerner charting experience
- Ability to provide two professional references; references may be pending at submission
- Willingness to float within scope of practice to support acute care needs
- Ability to meet weekend and holiday scheduling requirements
- Annual flu vaccination required; medical and religious exemptions may be considered
Travel ER Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients admitted from the emergency department who are awaiting inpatient bed placement
- Monitor and care for patients in designated ER Holding areas or hallway spaces as needed
- Apply acute care and medical-surgical telemetry skills to assess, treat, and monitor a diverse patient population
- Perform ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns promptly
- Administer medications and treatments safely while maintaining accurate documentation in Cerner
- Collaborate with emergency, inpatient, and interdisciplinary teams to support safe transitions of care
- Float to an acute care area within scope when ER Holding census is low
- Maintain safe patient ratios and deliver compassionate, patient-centered care during overnight shifts
