Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,750–$1,840
- Location: Abilene, Texas
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- End Date: February 1, 2027
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
- Unit: 34-bed medical-surgical/telemetry unit
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Typical Patient Ratio: 5:1
- Weekend Coverage: Approximately 12 weekend shifts during the contract
- Orientation: 36 hours, including approximately 6–8 hours of required modules
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical/telemetry nursing experience
- Current BLS certification
- Current NIHSS certification
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Electronic health record experience preferred
- Ability to complete required credentialing and laboratory items within the designated timeframe
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical and telemetry patients.
- Care for patients with orthopedic, general surgery, postoperative, renal, respiratory, and other complex medical conditions.
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, monitor patient status, and promptly identify changes requiring intervention.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, oxygen, and other ordered treatments in accordance with current standards of care.
- Manage peripheral and central lines, PICC lines, surgical drains, wound care, feeding tubes, urinary catheters, and related clinical equipment.
- Support patients requiring respiratory therapies such as nasal cannula, high-flow oxygen, and non-invasive airway management.
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, outcomes, and care plans in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, IV teams, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, treatments, recovery, and discharge planning.
- Float to comparable units and, as needed, provide coverage at an affiliated campus while maintaining high standards of patient care.
