This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers an opportunity to support adult and geriatric patients across a diverse surgical caseload, including trauma, orthopedic, spine, general, urologic, and vascular procedures. Operating Room RN Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Texas
  • At least 1 year of Operating Room nursing or perioperative nursing experience
  • Operating Room experience with adult and geriatric patient populations
  • Epic electronic health record charting experience is required
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
  • American Heart Association certification is preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience is preferred
  • Trauma, community hospital, and complex surgical experience are preferred
  • Ability to float as needed and work required weekends and holidays
  • Strong knowledge of infection prevention, surgical safety, specimen handling, labeling, and Universal Protocol/time-out procedures

Travel OR Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, comprehensive perioperative nursing care throughout the surgical patient experience
  • Support general, orthopedic, spine, trauma, urologic, vascular, and other surgical procedures
  • Prepare operating rooms, verify equipment and supplies, and promote a sterile surgical environment
  • Assist with procedures such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, colon resection, cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy, thyroidectomy, total joint replacement, spinal fusion, laminectomy, and fracture repair
  • Apply expertise in cell saver use, blood and blood product administration, laser safety, radiation safety, infection control, and wound management
  • Participate in trauma cases and maintain readiness for changing surgical priorities
  • Accurately document patient care and surgical activities in Epic
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, nursing staff, radiology, pharmacy, interpretation services, and unit support personnel
  • Advocate for patient safety, maintain strong communication, and contribute to an efficient and respectful operating room environment
