- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, typically 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.; schedule may vary
- Shifts per Week: 3 shifts weekly
- Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed hours
- Healthcare Setting: On-site, 20-bed cardiac care ICU
- Holiday Availability: Ability to work two major holidays and one minor holiday during the assignment
CVICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license and eligibility to practice in Georgia
- At least 2 years of recent experience in a CVICU, cardiac ICU, or comparable critical care specialty
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to care for hemodynamically unstable patients
CVICU RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients following open-heart, vascular, and thoracic surgeries
- Monitor, assess, and manage patients requiring advanced cardiovascular and critical care interventions
- Care for patients supported by intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella devices, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and epicardial pacemakers
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly initiate appropriate interventions and escalation of care
- Administer medications, manage invasive monitoring, and collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team
- Educate patients and families while promoting safe transitions across the continuum of care
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow unit, regulatory, and patient-safety standards
