Outpatient Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Fairfield/New Haven, CT

Experienced Registered Nurse (RN) sought for an outpatient infusion travel nursing job serving adult and geriatric patients in the Fairfield/New Haven region of Connecticut. Join a specialized ambulatory infusion team on a 13-week contract with a consistent weekday schedule, focused five-chair clinic, approximately 15 patients per day, and an average 2:1 patient-to-nurse ratio. Outpatient Infusion RN Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Connecticut
  • At least 5 years of Registered Nurse experience, including outpatient infusion nursing experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in the outpatient infusion specialty for submission consideration
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Experience caring for patients with neurological, autoimmune, inflammatory, or immunosuppressive conditions
  • Demonstrated proficiency with peripheral IV starts, implanted port access and management, phlebotomy, and infusion pump management
  • Ability to recognize and manage medication reactions, anaphylaxis, nausea, vomiting, neuropathy, and other treatment-related side effects
  • Strong patient education, care coordination, and clinical documentation skills
  • Seasonal influenza vaccination required
  • One professional reference required

Outpatient Infusion Nursing Responsibilities

  • Assess, monitor, and provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients receiving outpatient infusion therapy
  • Administer prescribed intravenous therapies, immunotherapies, hydration, multivitamins, corticosteroids, antiemetics, and other specialty medications according to established protocols
  • Start and maintain peripheral IVs; access, manage, and monitor implanted ports
  • Operate infusion pumps and evaluate medication tolerance, patient response, and potential complications
  • Monitor patients for anaphylaxis, altered mental status, allergic reactions, and other adverse effects; initiate appropriate interventions and escalate care when necessary
  • Provide infusion care for patients with multiple sclerosis, migraines, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, osteoporosis, psoriatic arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, anemia, and other inflammatory or autoimmune disorders
  • Apply isolation precautions and appropriate personal protective equipment when indicated
  • Educate patients and families about treatments, side effects, symptom management, and follow-up care
  • Collaborate with pharmacy, social services, interpretation services, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care coordination activities in Epic
