- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250–$2,370
- Location: Springfield, Massachusetts
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: October 12, 2026
- End Date: January 10, 2027
- Unit: Cardiac stepdown / surgical, trauma, and transplant intermediate care
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Unit Capacity: 32 beds
- Typical Patient Ratio: 1:3 to 1:4
Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Massachusetts
- At least 1 year of recent acute-care nursing experience required; 2 years preferred
- Experience in cardiac stepdown, intermediate care, medical-surgical, trauma, surgical, or transplant nursing strongly preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Ability to care for patients requiring ventilators, high-flow oxygen, and BiPAP
- Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, prioritization, and communication skills
Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to complex surgical, trauma, transplant, and medical patients in a high-acuity intermediate care environment
- Monitor patients requiring ventilatory support, high-flow oxygen, and BiPAP, identifying changes in condition and escalating care appropriately
- Care for patients recovering from thoracic surgery, general surgery, kidney transplant procedures, Whipple procedures, and trauma
- Perform focused and comprehensive nursing assessments, administer medications, and evaluate patient responses to treatment
- Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized plans of care
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and promote patient safety, patient education, and continuity of care
