- Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
- Unit Coverage: Medical critical care, surgical ICU, and intermediate care settings
- Patient Ratios: Typically 1:2, or 1:1 based on patient acuity
- Openings: Multiple travel nurse positions available
ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
- Level I ICU experience preferred; 2 years of medical ICU experience preferred for candidates without Level I ICU experience
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Massachusetts
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to care for high-acuity patients in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Willingness to float between critical care and intermediate care units as needed
Critical Care Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill medical and neurocritical care patients
- Care for patients with sepsis, end-stage renal disease, acute kidney injury requiring CRRT/CVVH, respiratory failure, and post-cardiac-arrest needs
- Monitor complex patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and respond promptly to clinical deterioration
- Manage patients requiring ventilatory support, advanced monitoring, and other critical care interventions within scope of practice
- Float to medical critical care, surgical ICU, and intermediate care units while maintaining safe, evidence-based care
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care coordination activities
- Support a safe, respectful, and patient-centered care environment for patients and their families
