Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Contract – Inpatient Behavioral Health in Seattle, WA

Join a collaborative Seattle healthcare team as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) providing compassionate inpatient behavioral health care to adult patients. Travel Psychiatric RN Job Details

• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts

Psychiatric RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Washington
• At least 1 year of recent psychiatric nursing, behavioral health, or similar inpatient experience, preferably in an involuntary treatment setting
• Experience providing mental health nursing care in an inpatient behavioral health setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current de-escalation certification, such as CPI or MOAB
• Ability to evaluate patient needs and facilitate transfer to a medical hospital when indicated
• Ability to assume charge nurse responsibilities when needed

Psychiatric Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, and patient-centered nursing care to adults receiving inpatient behavioral health treatment
• Complete psychiatric and nursing assessments, monitor changes in mental and physical status, and communicate clinical findings to the treatment team
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols and scope of practice
• Use therapeutic communication and approved de-escalation techniques to promote safety and support patients experiencing a behavioral health crisis
• Recognize medical concerns that require additional evaluation and coordinate transfer to a medical hospital when necessary
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support individualized treatment plans and safe discharge planning
• Float between inpatient behavioral health units as needed
• Assume charge nurse duties and help coordinate unit operations when assigned
• Document patient care accurately in the Epic electronic medical record
