Travel RN Job Details
- Location: Puyallup, Washington
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts
- Typical Patient Ratios: PCU/CCU approximately 1:4, medical-surgical approximately 1:5, and ICU approximately 1:2 based on acuity
- Clinical Environment: PCU, emergency department holding, medical-surgical, ICU support, rehabilitation, and hospital-wide transport coverage as needed
- Orientation: Hospital and unit orientation provided
- Charting and Equipment: Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing
PCU RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington or eligibility for Washington licensure
- At least 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience; ICU or acute care experience is valuable for float assignments
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Telemetry competency and proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Experience with chest tubes, tracheostomies, lumbar drains, general drains, ostomies, and IV medication management
- Ability to titrate commonly used critical care and progressive care infusions within scope of practice
- Strong communication, patient education, assessment, and clinical prioritization skills
- Willingness to float within demonstrated competency and support multiple hospital units

PCU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to PCU patients with respiratory compromise, sepsis, renal failure, bleeding disorders, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, orthopedic conditions, and general medical-surgical diagnoses
- Monitor patients, interpret cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly
- Administer medications and manage IV therapies, including titratable infusions as appropriate to the assignment
- Care for patients with chest tubes, tracheostomies, drains, ostomies, and other complex treatment needs
- Support the emergency department holding area, which may include mixed-acuity patients, isolation patients, and non-ambulatory patients
- Float to medical-surgical, ICU-support, rehabilitation, transport, and other areas within scope and competency
- Transport patients safely throughout the hospital, including to diagnostic and procedural departments when assigned
- Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapy, technicians, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Educate patients and families while promoting safety, comfort, and continuity of care
- Adapt quickly to changing assignments and contribute as a dependable resource during each night shift
