- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
- Shift: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,360–$2,480
- Patient Population: Adults with cardiac intensive care diagnoses
- Typical Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Required; every other weekend and every other holiday may be required
- Float Expectations: May float among affiliated hospitals within the assigned CVICU and critical care skill set based on staffing needs
- Scheduling Notes: Block scheduling is not available. Requested time off must be submitted with the application, and time off is not permitted during the first week of the assignment.
CVICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in New Jersey or a valid Compact RN license at the time of submission
- At least 2 years of recent CVICU experience, including experience within the past 12 months
- Open-heart recovery experience
- Experience with balloon pumps, LVADs, Impella devices, and ECMO
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent experience using Epic electronic health records
- Strong cardiac medication, dysrhythmia interpretation, ventilator management, and vasoactive medication titration skills
- Ability to pass a dysrhythmia examination during orientation; up to two attempts are permitted
- Willingness to complete required pre-employment laboratories and orientation modules within established timelines
- Ability to meet fit-testing and workplace safety requirements
CVICU RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult cardiovascular patients
- Monitor and manage patients receiving mechanical ventilation, continuous sedation, neuromuscular blockade, and high-flow oxygen therapy
- Care for patients following cardiac surgery, cardiac catheterization, valve repair or replacement, CABG, and TAVR procedures
- Manage and monitor advanced cardiac support therapies, including IABP, Impella, ECMO, LVAD, and RVAD devices
- Titrate cardiac, vasoactive, insulin, and emergency medication infusions according to clinical protocols
- Interpret dysrhythmias, obtain and interpret 12-lead ECGs, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- Manage arterial lines, central lines, pulmonary artery catheters, epicardial pacing wires, chest tubes, and other critical care devices
- Provide CRRT or CVVHD care and support patients with acute or chronic renal failure when needed
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physicians, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in Epic and promote safe, evidence-based patient care
- Float to affiliated facilities within the CVICU and critical care skill set as staffing needs require
