• Schedule: 40 hours per week
• Shift: 8-hour day shifts with a variable start time between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
• On-Call Requirement: One night per week and one weekend approximately every seven weeks
• Work Setting: On-site operating room and perioperative services

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license or eligibility for license verification in Iowa
• At least 1 year of recent operating room nursing experience
• Recent orthopedic and spine surgical experience required
• Operating room and perioperative nursing competencies appropriate to the assigned surgical service
• Ability to work scheduled day shifts and participate in the required on-call rotation
• Successful completion of required credentialing, competency validation, and background screening

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide skilled perioperative nursing care throughout the surgical experience
• Prepare operating rooms, supplies, equipment, and instrumentation for orthopedic and spine procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and other members of the perioperative team
• Maintain strict aseptic technique and follow patient safety and surgical site protocols
• Monitor patient status, anticipate perioperative needs, and respond promptly to changes
• Accurately document care, procedures, specimens, counts, and handoffs
• Participate in the assigned overnight and weekend on-call rotation
