PACU Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Assignment in Moses Lake, Washington

Experienced PACU travel nurse wanted for an on-site post-anesthesia care assignment in Moses Lake, WA. PACU Registered Nurse Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • At least 1 year of registered nursing experience; acute care or PACU nursing experience preferred
  • Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or an equivalent provider, obtained within 30 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association, obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification through the American Heart Association, obtained within 6 months of hire
  • CPAN certification preferred
  • Strong assessment, critical-thinking, crisis-management, delegation, and communication skills
  • Ability to care for patients across the age continuum and work effectively in a high-acuity, rapidly changing post-anesthesia care environment
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and lift or carry supplies and equipment up to 30 pounds; ability to assist with patient transfers and emergency response activities

PACU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor patients’ physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status throughout the post-anesthesia recovery process.
  • Implement individualized care plans using sound nursing judgment, established procedures, and evidence-based practices.
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and respond promptly to acute and emergent needs.
  • Administer care, evaluate patient outcomes, and coordinate interventions with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Identify patient and family learning needs and provide appropriate education regarding recovery, treatment, and discharge instructions.
  • Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record and other required systems.
  • Delegate, coordinate, supervise, and validate patient-care activities performed by nurses and support staff.
  • Prioritize assignments, support safe patient flow, and assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Serve as a charge nurse when assigned, including helping coordinate coverage, facilitating patient assignments, and supporting unit problem-solving.
  • Maintain compliance with infection-prevention, patient-safety, emergency-response, equipment, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate respectfully with patients, families, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to promote quality outcomes.
  • Participate in required orientation and continuing education related to specialty practice and total joint program pathways, when applicable.
