Travel NICU Registered Nurse (RN) needed for a 13-week assignment caring for critically ill and extremely premature neonates in Greenwich, CT. Join a specialized Neonatal Intensive Care Unit team in a Level III/IV teaching hospital with a 12-bed NICU, an average daily census of approximately 7–8 patients, and Epic electronic medical record technology. - Location: Greenwich, Connecticut
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250–$2,370
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend; approximately 8 weekend shifts during the assignment
- Healthcare Setting: Level III/IV NICU within a 186-bed teaching hospital
- Patient Population: Neonates, including infants born at less than 24–28 weeks gestation
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic charting experience required
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Floating: May be required within the department based on operational needs
NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Connecticut; candidates should allow approximately 15–21 business days for Connecticut licensure if applicable
- At least 3 years of recent NICU nursing experience
- Recent experience in Level III and/or Level IV NICU settings
- Experience caring for neonates born at less than 24–28 weeks gestation
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Epic electronic medical record and clinical documentation experience
- Demonstrated competency with neonatal ventilator management, including AC/PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, and PEEP
- Strong knowledge of isolation precautions and personal protective equipment
- Travel nursing assignment eligibility; candidates residing within 75 miles of the assignment location are not eligible
NICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and extremely premature neonates in a Level III/IV NICU
- Assess, monitor, and manage neonatal cardiac status, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Administer and manage feedings by bottle, breast, and gavage, including oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tube placement and care
- Manage arterial lines, central and implanted lines, umbilical artery catheters (UACs), and umbilical venous catheters (UVCs)
- Administer and monitor IV vasopressors, surfactants, steroids, and other medications according to neonatal care protocols
- Recognize and support the care of neonates experiencing Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
- Operate and monitor neonatal ventilators across AC/PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, and PEEP modes
- Maintain infection prevention standards and apply appropriate isolation precautions
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Epic
- Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to promote safe, evidence-based neonatal care
