PACU Travel Nurse Job Details
- Nursing Specialty: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and perioperative nursing
- Assignment Type: 8-week travel nursing contract
- Location: Everett, Washington
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Schedule: 4 shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 10-hour evening shifts, approximately 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Hours: 40 hours per week; 70 guaranteed hours per two-week period
- Weekend Requirement: No regular weekend requirement; occasional weekend coverage may be included based on scheduling needs
- Call Requirement: None
- Patient Population: Pediatric patients age 1 and older, adults, and geriatric patients
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,990–$2,090
PACU Registered Nurse Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience, preferably in PACU, pre-operative, or post-operative recovery
- Current Washington Registered Nurse license or a compact license held in hand at submission
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Experience caring for patients recovering from general, orthopedic, vascular, thoracic, neurological, pediatric, gynecological, urological, ENT, ophthalmology, trauma, and other surgical procedures
- Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting is preferred
- Ability to float when needed between nearby affiliated locations
- Strong patient assessment, communication, clinical judgment, and patient education skills
PACU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care in pre-operative, post-operative, Phase II recovery, observation, and same-day surgery settings
- Monitor patients recovering from general anesthesia, monitored anesthesia care, nerve blocks, conscious sedation, and local anesthesia
- Recognize and manage dysrhythmias, pain, airway concerns, and other post-procedural complications
- Perform pre-operative assessments, review histories and physicals, interpret and communicate relevant laboratory values, and administer pre-operative medications
- Start and maintain IV access, obtain 12-lead ECGs, assist with post-cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology care, and support pacemaker insertion recovery
- Complete medication reconciliation, provide discharge instructions, and deliver patient and family education
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, respiratory services, IV teams, pharmacy, radiology, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Follow ASPAN standards, organizational policies, and evidence-based practices to promote quality care and patient safety
