Seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) travel nurse for a 13-week night-shift contract in Spokane, Washington. Join a collaborative stepdown nursing team providing high-acuity care to adult and geriatric patients in a 42-bed PCU. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,160–$2,270
- Location: Spokane, Washington
- Travel Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Stepdown, and Intermediate Care
- Healthcare Setting: 42-bed PCU/stepdown unit
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:3–4
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic experience required
- Call: Not required
PCU Travel Nurse Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; an active compact license must be in hand when applicable
- At least 1 year of recent PCU, progressive care, stepdown, intermediate care, or closely related acute-care nursing experience
- Demonstrated experience managing and titrating cardiac and vasoactive medication drips
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent Epic charting experience
- Strong cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
- Ability to care for patients with CHF, atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, chest pain, possible myocardial infarction, post-cardiac catheterization needs, cardiac drips, and renal failure
- Willingness to float to telemetry or medical-surgical units when staffing needs require
- Availability for rotating weekend coverage and holiday assignments as scheduled
PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a high-acuity PCU/stepdown environment
- Continuously assess, monitor, and document patients requiring cardiac telemetry and progressive-care nursing
- Safely manage and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips according to established protocols
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- Provide pre- and post-procedure care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization, angiography, and cardiac surgery
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, surgical drains, feeding tubes, oxygen therapy, noninvasive airways, and other progressive-care equipment
- Administer medications, blood products, insulin protocols, and other treatments while maintaining accurate clinical documentation in Epic
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary healthcare professionals
- Recognize and escalate clinical deterioration, participating in rapid response and emergency interventions as needed
- Float to designated telemetry or medical-surgical units when appropriate to support safe staffing
