ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Baltimore, Maryland

ICU Travel Nurse Job Details

  • Location: Baltimore, Maryland
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,960–$2,070
  • Employment Type: Travel nursing contract
  • Start Date: November 9, 2026
  • Contract Duration: 14 weeks, ending February 15, 2027
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours
  • Unit: 29-bed, non-aggregated adult ICU with an average daily census of approximately 26 patients
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 1:2 in the ICU; ratios may vary when floating
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Orientation: Approximately 40 hours
  • Charting: Cerner
  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

Travel ICU RN Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license in Maryland or a valid compact-state RN license at the time of submission
  • At least 2 years of recent critical care nursing experience
  • Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma and teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU experience required
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • ATCAR, TCRN, or equivalent trauma education; an approved Maryland trauma course may be completed to meet the trauma education requirement
  • Successful completion of an Advanced EKG assessment before proceeding with the contract
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias, titrate cardiac and vasoactive infusions, and manage multisystem organ dysfunction or failure
  • At least 1 year of professional nursing experience is required; candidates with 2 or more years of critical care experience are strongly preferred

ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with medical, surgical, cardiac, pulmonary, neuro, trauma, gastrointestinal, and critical illness diagnoses
  • Care for patients with complex conditions including traumatic brain injury, craniotomies, stroke, sepsis, and multisystem organ dysfunction
  • Assess patients, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
  • Manage ventilated patients and provide BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, suctioning, and airway support
  • Interpret arterial blood gases, obtain 12-lead EKGs, manage dysrhythmias, and monitor advanced hemodynamic status
  • Titrate cardiac, vasoactive, sedation, insulin, paralytic, and other continuous infusions according to patient condition and established protocols
  • Provide care involving arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, EVDs, ICP monitoring, CRRT, IABP, and hypothermia or Arctic Sun therapy
  • Administer blood products, emergency medications, procedural sedation, and other therapies within scope and competency
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the care team
  • Float to appropriate critical-care or other units, including IMC or ED areas, as needed and within demonstrated scope and competency
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner and uphold infection prevention, patient safety, and professional nursing standards
