Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) Jobs – 13-Week Night Contract in Iron River, Michigan

Travel Registered Nurse opportunity for an experienced Medical-Surgical RN in Iron River, Michigan. Provide compassionate care to primarily geriatric patients during a 13-week night-shift nursing contract with guaranteed weekly hours and competitive pay.

• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
• Unit: 25-bed medical-surgical unit
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4–1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights
• Orientation: 8 hours
• Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Every other weekend and holiday
• Scrubs: Any color

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Associate degree in nursing or applicable nursing certificate required; bachelor’s degree preferred
• Strong electronic medical record (EMR) charting experience, preferably with Epic
• Experience with CareScape patient monitors and Pyxis preferred
• Emergency Department experience preferred but not required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred but not required
• Ability to float to the Emergency Department within the scope of competency
• Ability to participate in weekend and holiday rotations and occasional call-back coverage

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for primarily geriatric medical-surgical patients with conditions such as congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and diabetes.
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Monitor and document patient conditions using Epic and applicable bedside monitoring systems.
• Collaborate with providers, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families to support safe, high-quality patient care.
• Float to the Emergency Department when needed and when working within established competencies.
• Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and support safe transitions of care.
• Remain flexible with low-census adjustments, on-call assignments, and a minimum two-hour call-back requirement when applicable.
