Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) needed in Abington, Pennsylvania for a 13-week contract supporting diverse surgical services in a high-volume, Level II Trauma operating room. Work on-site across a 19-room OR averaging approximately 50 cases per day while gaining experience with complex adult and geriatric procedures. • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,620–$2,760

• Schedule: 4 shifts per week, 10-hour day shifts, 9:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.; 40 hours per week

• End Date: February 15, 2027
• Weekend Requirement: One weekend approximately every six weeks

• Orientation: 12 hours
• Operating Room Environment: On-site, approximately 19 operating rooms and 50 cases per day

Operating Room Travel Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania or a valid compact RN license at the time of submission
• BSN required
• At least 2 years of recent Operating Room nursing experience
• BLS certification required
• Level II Trauma operating room experience required
• General OR and laparoscopic-assisted case experience required
• Ability to scrub total joint, neurosurgical, hybrid vascular, robotic, and other complex surgical cases
• Experience with general surgery, gynecology, urology, neurology, orthopedics, vascular, thoracic, ENT, endoscopy, and trauma procedures
• Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber-optic light sources and cords, specimen handling, universal protocol and surgical time-out procedures, infection control, radiation safety, laser safety, fire safety, latex allergy precautions, and malignant hyperthermia
• Experience with blood and blood product administration, code response, urinary catheterization, and wound management
• First-time travelers may be considered with appropriate operating room experience
• Seasonal influenza vaccination required; medical and religious exemptions may be considered

Perioperative Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective nursing care throughout the perioperative process for adult and geriatric patients
• Function as a circulating RN and scrub RN across a broad range of surgical specialties
• Prepare operating rooms, surgical equipment, instruments, supplies, and medications for scheduled procedures
• Scrub and circulate general, gynecologic, genitourinary, orthopedic, neurologic, vascular, thoracic, trauma, robotic, endoscopic, ENT, and other assigned cases
• Support complex procedures including total joint replacement, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, vascular and thoracic procedures, spinal surgery, trauma cases, and neurosurgery
• Maintain sterile technique and uphold universal protocol, surgical time-out, specimen labeling, infection prevention, and patient safety standards
• Operate and assist with equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber-optic systems, cell savers, hybrid OR equipment, and other specialty devices
• Respond appropriately to emergencies, including code situations, fire events, malignant hyperthermia, and transfusion-related needs
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team to promote efficient case flow and quality outcomes
• Document perioperative care accurately in the electronic health record
