Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in New Jersey
• No minimum professional nursing experience required
• Emergency Department RN registry eligibility or equivalent emergency nursing qualifications
• Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, documentation, and direct patient-care skills
• Ability to provide safe, effective emergency care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
• Ability to work 12-hour overnight shifts and fulfill the required weekly schedule

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Perform thorough, systematic, and accurate nursing assessments for patients across the lifespan.
• Provide competent direct patient care in accordance with emergency department standards, policies, and procedures.
• Recognize changes in patient condition, prioritize nursing care, and respond appropriately to emergent needs.
• Demonstrate knowledge of emergency equipment, procedures, safe patient transfers, and proper body mechanics.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, patient education, and patient progress.
• Follow patient-safety practices, including appropriate patient identification and universal precautions.
• Educate patients and families while maintaining confidentiality and treating everyone with professionalism and respect.
• Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support positive patient outcomes and patient satisfaction.
• Participate in ongoing professional growth and consistently apply current nursing knowledge to emergency patient care.
