Emergency Room Registered Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Maryland
• At least 1 year of recent emergency department or emergency room nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), NIHSS, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and scheduled weekends
• Valid, unexpired driver’s license required for assignment verification
• Must meet applicable travel nursing assignment and geographic eligibility requirements

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide timely, patient-centered nursing care to individuals presenting with a wide range of emergency conditions
• Perform emergency department triage, focused assessments, ongoing monitoring, and patient reassessments
• Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly escalate concerns to the appropriate healthcare team
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with established protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary staff to coordinate emergency care
• Respond effectively to urgent and emergent situations, including the care of pediatric and critically ill patients
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in EPIC
• Support a safe, respectful, and efficient emergency department environment
