Emergency Room RN Job Details

• Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
• Weekend Coverage: Rotating weekends
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Work Setting: On-site emergency department

Emergency Room Registered Nurse Requirements

• Experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse or Emergency Department RN
• Active Wisconsin RN license
• Verification of nursing education
• American Heart Association Provider-level BLS certification
• American Heart Association Provider-level ACLS certification
• American Heart Association Provider-level PALS certification
• NIHSS certification
• TNCC or TNS certification
• All required credentials must be completed and verified before the contract start date

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate emergency patient care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support safe, coordinated care in the emergency department.
• Administer medications and treatments according to approved nursing techniques, policies, procedures, standards of care, and applicable state regulations.
• Develop and execute individualized patient care plans, including patient and family education.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
• Apply clinical judgment and critical thinking to promote patient safety and a positive patient experience.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and escalate concerns through the appropriate chain of command.
• Participate in performance improvement, shared governance, unit practice activities, and peer review processes.
• Provide clinical expertise and support to other departments as part of the patient’s continuum of care.
