Travel Nursing Job Details

• Position: Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN)
• Location: Morehead City, North Carolina
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730–$1,820
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• Call: Not required
• Orientation: 16 hours
• Floating: As needed within scope of practice

PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or stepdown nursing experience
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state or a valid compact nursing license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Availability to work 12-hour night shifts and every third weekend
• Applicants must meet the applicable 50-mile radius requirement; local candidates are not eligible
• COVID-19 and influenza vaccination are required, with medical or religious exemptions considered according to assignment requirements

Progressive Care Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients in a progressive care or stepdown unit
• Monitor patients with complex medical needs and promptly recognize changes in condition
• Administer medications and treatments while maintaining accurate clinical documentation
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning
• Prioritize care effectively during overnight shifts and respond to evolving patient needs
• Float to other appropriate hospital areas as needed and within the RN’s scope of practice
