PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Virginia
• At least 1 year of recent professional nursing experience in a Progressive Care Unit, PCU, step-down, telemetry, or comparable acute-care setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, communication, and time-management skills
• Ability to work three 12-hour night shifts each week

Progressive Care Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring progressive care, telemetry monitoring, and close clinical observation
• Perform ongoing patient assessments, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with established care plans
• Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, laboratory results, and other relevant clinical data
• Collaborate with providers, nurses, ancillary departments, patients, and families to coordinate acute-care services
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care outcomes
• Promote patient safety, comfort, education, and continuity of care throughout each night shift
