NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Pennsylvania
• At least 1 year of recent NICU or comparable neonatal critical-care experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, including every third weekend and holidays
• Strong neonatal assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills

NICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to premature, critically ill, and medically complex neonates
• Attend and support high-risk deliveries in collaboration with the neonatal care team
• Monitor and care for patients receiving ventilator, CPAP, and BiPAP support
• Manage feeding tubes, chest tubes, central lines, and PICC lines according to clinical standards
• Operate syringe pumps and administer blood products safely and accurately
• Complete comprehensive neonatal assessments, document patient progress, and promptly communicate changes in condition
• Educate and support families throughout the neonatal care experience
• Float to Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) and Antepartum areas as needed
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
