Description

Minimum 2+ years recent CVICU/CTICU RN experience required; Level I Trauma experience required / CERTIFICATIONS – BLS and ACLS Required; CCRN Preferred / LICENSE – Active RN License Required (facility willing to wait for license) / Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hrs/week, 13 weeks (7p–7a; 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks) / Setting: Acute Care – Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CTICU/CVICU) / EMR: Cerner / Skills: Advanced critical care nursing, post-cardiac surgery recovery, CABG recovery, IABP, Impella, CRRT, ECMO, thoracic surgery care, lung transplant care, TAVR, Swan-Ganz monitoring, ventilator management, dysrhythmia interpretation, central line care, Foley catheter insertion, and strong IV skills required / Unit Details: 24-bed CTICU/CVICU providing care for high-acuity cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients / Ratios: 1:1–2 with a high number of 1:1 assignments / Common Patient Population: Cardiac surgery recovery, CABG, Impella, IABP, CRRT, ECMO, lung transplant, thoracic surgery, esophagectomy, lobectomy, pneumonectomy, and TAVR patients / Drips: Multiple vasoactive, sedation, and critical care drips utilized based on patient acuity / RT Equipment: Ventilators and advanced respiratory support available with RT coverage 24/7 / Charge Nurse: Dedicated charge nurse without patient assignment / Monitoring: Philips telemetry monitoring; RNs responsible for rhythm interpretation and must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance / Intensivist Coverage: Intensivist on-site during days and on-call overnight / IV Team: None; strong peripheral and central line management skills required / Support Staff: PCT support available on days and nights with high census / Scheduling: Facility scheduling based on unit needs / Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks / Holiday Requirement: Required based on unit coverage / Floating: Required to float to other ICUs, all Telemetry units (up to 4:1 ratio), and Westgate campus as needed; travelers float before permanent staff / Call Requirement: None / Orientation: 12-hour hospital orientation plus 2 days unit-specific orientation / Scrubs: Navy Blue / Additional: Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed); Day 1 pass/fail SIMs Lab includes Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing change competency with strict sterile technique requirements. Travelers must have their own vehicle, maintain natural hair color, no facial piercings, and male clinicians must be clean-shaven for fit testing. Facility follows a 50-mile radius rule with no local rates.
