Job Title: Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Neuro (4th Floor North)
Location: Omaha, NE
Start Date: December 8, 2025
Duration: 13 Weeks

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical and neuro patients, including those with strokes, neurological deficits, and post-neurosurgical procedures.
• Manage patient assignments with a ratio of 1:5–6, ensuring safe and effective care delivery.
• Administer and monitor medications and titrated drips (Heparin, Lidocaine, Ketamine) and manage PCA pumps.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and support positive patient outcomes.
• Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and respond appropriately to changes in condition.
• Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and care coordination.
• Maintain compliance with hospital infection control and safety policies, including fingernail and uniform guidelines.
• Participate in unit-based initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and responsiveness.
• Float as needed to other medical-surgical units or overflow areas.
• Support a diverse patient population, providing culturally sensitive care and communication.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of acute care Med-Surg/Neuro experience required.
• Travel experience preferred, but strong non-travel candidates will be considered.
• Strong clinical judgment, time management, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment with frequent admissions and discharges.
• Must successfully complete Pass/Fail exam during orientation (minimum score of 90% required).

Licenses and Certifications:

• Active RN License (Compact or Nebraska State).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) – Required.
• Driver's License required for submission to verify 50-mile radius compliance.
• No license or background hits permitted.
