Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg Neuro
Location: Omaha, NE
Start Date: 11/24/2025
Duration: 13 Weeks

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care to Med Surg Neuro and Telemetry patients on a 25-bed unit.
• Care for patients with neurological conditions, post-neurosurgery, and general med/surg overflow.
• Administer and titrate Heparin, Lidocaine, and Ketamine drips as required.
• Manage PCA pumps and monitor patient telemetry with support from tele techs.
• Perform frequent assessments and maintain accurate documentation in EPIC EMR.
• Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and care techs to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
• Support a high-admission/discharge workflow with strong organization and teamwork.
• Uphold patient safety and infection control standards (no artificial nails policy).

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg/Neuro or acute care experience preferred.
• Travel experience preferred but strong candidates without will be considered.
• Active Nebraska RN License or Compact License (required).
• Must pass open-book clinical exam during orientation (minimum 90% to continue assignment).
• Must comply with 50-mile radius rule and not be employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities.
• No license or background hits permitted.
• Valid driver's license required (for radius verification).

Certifications & Licensure:

• Required: BLS and NIHSS certifications.
• EMR: EPIC.
• Trauma Level I facility.
• Shifts: 0630–1900 or 1830–0700.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday coverage: 2–3 holidays between Thanksgiving and New Year's.
• Floating: To other Med Surg units as needed.
• Scrub color: Navy Blue.
• Orientation: 2 days.
• Focus areas: hourly rounding, patient responsiveness, and compassionate, team-based care.
