Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Tele / Ortho
Location: Omaha, NE
Start Date: 12/08/2025
Duration: 13 Weeks

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to patients on a 55-bed Med Tele / Ortho unit.
• Care for post-surgical, orthopedic, and medical telemetry patients, including those with joint replacements, fractures, COPD, GI bleeds, and sepsis.
• Administer and titrate Heparin, Lidocaine, and Ketamine drips as needed.
• Manage PCA pumps and monitor telemetry with support from tele techs.
• Document patient assessments and care accurately in EPIC EMR.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient outcomes.
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and hospital policies (no artificial nails).
• Participate in hourly rounding and patient responsiveness initiatives.
• Float as needed to other MedSurg units or areas caring for MedSurg patients.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of recent MedSurg/Telemetry or Orthopedic experience preferred.
• Active Nebraska RN License or Compact License (required).
• Must pass open-book exam during orientation (minimum 90% to continue assignment).
• Must comply with 50-mile radius rule and cannot be employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities.
• Valid driver's license required for radius verification.
• Must be a team player with strong multitasking, communication, and patient care skills.

Certifications & Licensure:

• Required: BLS.
• Preferred: ACLS.
• EMR: EPIC.
• Trauma Level I Facility.
• Shifts: 0630–1900 or 1830–0700.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday coverage: 2–3 holidays between Thanksgiving and New Year's.
• Scrub color: Navy Blue.
• Orientation: 2 days.
• Floating: To other MedSurg units as required.
• RTO: Must be submitted upfront (maximum 7 days per 13-week contract).
