Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients, operating sophisticated imaging equipment such as gamma cameras, and analyzing the resulting images to assist physicians in diagnosing illnesses. Job Responsibilities: --35% Patient Care: -Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures by explaining the process, obtaining medical histories, and addressing any concerns or questions they may have. -Provide compassionate care and support to patients throughout the nuclear medicine procedures. -Address any patient concerns or discomforts and ensure their safety and well-being during the imaging process. --35% Radiopharmaceutical Administration, Imaging Procedures, and Image Analysis: -Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to prescribed protocols and guidelines. -Ensure proper dosage and injection technique to optimize imaging results. -Operate gamma cameras and other specialized imaging equipment to capture images of radioactive tracers within the patient's body. Follow established protocols for image acquisition and processing. -Analyze nuclear medicine images to identify abnormalities or areas of interest. -Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to interpret findings and assist in patient diagnosis and treatment planning. --10% Radiation Safety: -Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and yourself. -Maintain accurate records of radiation doses administered and monitor radiation levels in work areas. --10% Quality Control and Documentation/Reporting: -Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and image quality. -Troubleshoot technical issues as needed and escalate concerns to appropriate personnel. -Maintain detailed records of procedures performed, including patient information, radiopharmaceutical doses administered, imaging parameters, and image interpretations. -Generate accurate reports for inclusion in patient medical records. --10% Education: -Stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine technology, procedures, and safety regulations through ongoing education and professional development activities. -Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge. -Participate in the orientation of staff.
