Description

Job Summary (List Format):

- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) with every other weekend coverage (subject to change based on needs).
- Unit Assignment: Required to float between Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
- Experience Required: Must have both pediatric and adult ICU experience.
- Specialization: Must be an experienced ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) Specialist.
- Patient Diagnoses: Manage patients post-cardiac surgery, with cardiogenic shock, traumatic injury, ARDS/respiratory failure, or other critical illnesses requiring ECMO support.
- Procedures: Responsible for managing ECMO devices during bedside cannulation and/or cannula repositioning.
- Equipment Used:
- Cardiohelp ECMO console
- Centrimag ECMO console
- Cardio Quip heater-cooler unit
- Glucometer (for point-of-care testing)
- EMR Experience: Minimum one year of experience with EPIC electronic medical records.
- Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and South Carolina RRT license.
- ECMO Training: Completion of ECMO specialty device course and ongoing Continuing Medical Education (CMEs) to maintain proficiency.
- Teamwork: Will work alongside ICU RN and RT staff, with responsibility for ECMO device management per order sets and provider direction.
- Patient Population: Care for both pediatric (PICU) and adult (CVICU) patients requiring critical heart/lung support.
- Licensure: Must be licensed as either a Respiratory Therapist (RT) or Registered Nurse (RN) with ICU experience.
