Job Summary (RN - MedSurg/Tele) - Facility: - Large academic medical center (885 beds) in Winston-Salem, NC - Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain, and Stroke Center - Unit Details: - 24-bed MedSurg/Telemetry unit - Experience Required: - Minimum 2 years MedSurg/Tele (MST) experience - First-time travelers considered with strong MST background - Patient Population & Diagnoses: - General medicine patients (diabetes, GI, respiratory, renal issues, wounds, chest tubes, trachs) - Responsibilities include lab draws - Patient Ratios: - RN: 5-6 patients per nurse - CNA: 8 patients per CNA - Licensure & Certifications: - BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement) - Skills Required: - Direct and indirect patient care - Strong interpersonal and communication skills - Ability to work collaboratively under stress - Telemetry monitoring and strip reading - Experience with chest tubes, traches, PIV starts, drains, PCA pumps - Management of infusions (Amiodarone, Fentanyl, Ketamine, Dilaudid, Heparin) - Department Support: - CNAs, Receptionist/HUC, Charge Nurse, Phlebotomy - 24/7 Rapid Response Team, RT, Hospitalist, Intensivist - Centralized Telemetry monitoring - No IV/VAT team - Technology/Equipment: - EMR: Epic - IV pumps: Alaris - Medication dispensing: Omnicell - Other Responsibilities: - May float to other MedSurg units as needed - Orientation: - NEO and 2 days departmental orientation - Additional Information: - Scrub color: Royal blue - Free employee parking - Unit culture: patient-centered, highly reliable, strong teamwork
