Job Summary (List Format): RN - MedSurg/Tele

• Facility:

• 301 Yadkin St., Albemarle, NC 28001

• 109 licensed beds

• Advanced Primary Stroke Center

• Not a trauma or teaching hospital

• Radius rule: Permanent address must be 50+ miles from unit

• Unit Details:

• 27-bed MedSurg/Tele unit

• Average daily census: 20

• Minimum 18 months Med/Tele RN experience required

• First-time travelers not preferred but considered (Resource Team)

• Patient Population/Common Diagnoses:

• Stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, GI bleed

• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:

• Typical: 1:5-6 (acuity dependent)

• Surge staffing: Up to 1:7-8

• Required Certifications/Licenses:

• Active RN license

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

• Required Skills:

• General Med/Tele skillset

• Stroke care and NIH assessments

• Chest tube management

• Peripheral IV starts

• Trach care

• Cardiac rhythm interpretation

• NGT placement

• Drain/tube management (e.g., Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP, flexiseals, Foley)

• PCA pumps

• Medication gtt management (cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IV fluids)

• Department Support:

• CNA support (certified CNAs can insert/remove foleys/IVs)

• Receptionist/HUC (days only)

• Charge nurse (may or may not have patient load)

• 24/7 Phlebotomy, RT, Hospitalist coverage

• Telemetry tech/monitoring available

• No dedicated IV/VAT team

• Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: Epic

• IV pump: Alaris

• Medication dispensing: Omnicell

• Patient monitors: Philips

• Floating Requirements:

• Must float within region per facility need and within scope of practice

• Region includes: Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH - peds only)

• Paid for travel time if floating mid-shift

• Orientation:

• NEO (New Employee Orientation)

• 2 days departmental orientation
