o 1 Medical Center Blvd, Winston-Salem, NC 27157
o 885 licensed beds
o Level 1 Trauma Designation
o Teaching Hospital: Yes, Academic Medical Center
o Chest Pain Center
o Stroke Center
⢠Unit Information:
o Beds: 40 bed unit
⢠Census: 34 Average patients/day: 34
o Minimum Years of Experience required: 1 year – open to Med/Tele will prefer Oncology
o Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes, with 1 year of experience
⢠Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Hematology and Oncology, Leukemia, Symptom management, Comfort Care/End of Life
⢠Patient Ratios:
o RN: 1:4-5, acuity dependent
o CNA: 1:9-12
⢠Required Licensure & Certifications:
o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)
o ONS preferred
o OCN certification preferred
⢠Skills required:
o Port access, blood product administration, electrolyte mgmt., EOL care, pain/symptom mgmt., PIV starts, cardiac rhythm interpretation
⢠Support within the Department:
o CNA: Yes, collect vitals, heights/weights, help with ADLs
o Receptionist/HUC: Yes, 7am-11pm daily
o Charge nurse: Yes, designated charges on dayshift, fill in charge on nights
o Phlebotomy: Yes, they round at certain times every shift
o IV/VAT Team: Yes, on dayshift
o Resource Nurse: N/A
o RT 24/7: Yes, available via phone call or secure chat
o Hospitalist 24/7: Yes
o Intensivist 24/7: N/A
o Telemetry monitoring/tech: monitoring via Centralized telemetry unit
⢠RN to verify strips q shift
⢠Technology/Equipment:

o IV Pump: Alaris
o Med dispensing: Omnicell
o Monitors: Philips
o Unit specific equipment: lift equipment
⢠Floating: If yes, where?
o Within the cancer center first, then to any med-surg unit within the hospital.
o 5 Facility Float Clause - Emergency Only
⢠Orientation (facility and unit):
o NEO
o 2 days departmental
⢠Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: every other
o No call
o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
o RTO: up to 7 days, must extend
o Shift times: 0630-1900 (days) or 1830-0700 (nights)
o Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
