RN - Peds PACU ● About Facility: o 885 licensed beds Level 1 Trauma Designation Teaching Hospital Yes, Academic Medical Center Chest Pain Center Stroke Center ● Unit Information: Beds: 20 bays ▪ Average census 30-40 patients per day Minimum Years of Experience required? 1 year required, 2 years preferred in the critical care peds space Will you accept a first-time traveler? No, must have completed at least one travel assignment ● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Serves primarily pediatric patients (ages 017); primarily inpatient but also outpatient Covers most surgical specialties, with the exception of cardiac ● Patient Ratios: RN: 1:1; 1:2 acuity dependent ● Required Certification: BLS, PALS ● Skills required: Vented patients go straight to the ICU, would rarely see BiPAP patients Comfortable managing gtts you would commonly see in the ICUheparin, insulin, sometimes cardiac Limited use of BiPAP, primarily in post-operative settings Occasionally cares for adult patients based on unit needs Self-motivated, resourcefulasks for help if doesn’t know the answer to something, team player, open bay unit so works in a “all hands on deck” mentality ● Support within the Department: Transporter HUC/Receptionist PACU educator Dedicated charge/manager that does not take patients No phlebotomy Anesthesia available 24/7 Nurses responsible for telemetry monitoring ● Technology/Equipment: EMR: EPIC IV Pump: Alaris Med dispensing: Omnicel Monitors: Philips ● Floating: If yes, where? Occasionally care for adult patient but they would be brought to their unit ● Orientation (facility and unit) : NEO day with facility o 2 precepted shifts ● Other notes: Scrub Color: scrubs provided Parking: Free
